Joining Hands With NGOs
We are all aware of the profit making organizations that belong to the
private or government sector. However, there are many organizations that are
separate from these two and are often nonprofit making ones. We know these organizations
as non government organizations or NGOs as they are more popularly known. These
NGOs perform many important functions that benefit society as a whole.
Depending on the cause of the NGO it will take up the functions necessary to
enhance the cause. There are a lot of such organizations working for different
causes like the uplifting of women, raising voice against child labor,
providing shelter to the homeless etc. Their combined effort has benefited many
people and has gone towards the betterment of society as a whole.
Often the common citizen wishes to do something for society, but is
unable to do so due to lack of resources, time or other factors. One way of
contributing to society is joining hands with such NGOs that are committed toseveral social causes. You may have an affinity for a particular cause and can
look for an NGO dedicated to that cause. You can help the NGO either by
volunteering your services or making monetary donations. This will go a long

Importance of NGOs In the Developing Society
NGOs or Non- governmental
organizations made their first appearance in the mid of the nineteenth century,
just after the World War II. The basic aim of forming these organisations was
to provide support to the common people who had suffered a major loss in the
post -World War scenario. Since that time NGOs have become increasingly influential
in the development of the society and the people living
in it.
The role of the NGOs in the
developing world is quite critical, their responsibilities and work spans
across different levels, and fields; and in order to perform all those tasks
with utmost accuracy and efficiency NGOs are quickly becoming more structured
and organized. These non- governmental and on-profit organizations mainly run
on donations and charities, and they work with the motto of effective
development at the grass root level, which can bring a radical change in the progress
of the society as a whole.

With time, the country has
experienced rapid growth; but, the growth has not been able to touch every
level of the society in the same way. On one hand, when more and more people
are becoming habituated with an annual foreign trip, a major part of the society
is hardly able to earn the bread for a day. National NGOs take significant steps to reach
out to these grass root level and help them to have a better life through their
own development.
The responsibilities of an NGO in a
developing society are not restricted within extending help to the poor, but
the NGOs take a leading part in a number of other social issues, including
child and women trafficking, child and adult education, extending proper
medical care to people with physical or mental disability, and also in a number
of other aspects, which are designed with the same motto of development of the
deprived class. These organisations often provide essential services in the
developing world, which are mainly taken care of by the government agencies or institutions
in the developed countries.

As already said, in a developing
society, NGOs have to deal with different types of social issues, and in order to
be able to provide the best help in every respect, NGOs have diversified and
specialised according to their basic goals. This has helped these organisations
to concentrate on some particular sector of people and help them in a more
effective way. Some of the NGOs work closely with the UN or other international
organizations; whereas some work all by themselves, and depends mainly on
